London, June 2015. As part of the ongoing changes within our Delegation, the Chancery is pleased to announce the appointment of Alderman The Rt Hon Baroness Scotland of Asthal, GCMCO, QC, as Vice-Delegate for England of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George within the Delegation of Great Britain and Ireland.

Baroness Scotland is an active member of the British and Irish Delegation and was first invested into the Constantinian Order in 2003 as a Dame of Merit with Star. She was later promoted by the Grand Master in 2014 to the rank and dignity of Dame Grand Cross of Merit of the Constantinian Order. She is the former Attorney General of England and Wales and UK Home Office Minister.

Baroness Scotland will serve in the Vice-Delegate’s post for the period 2015-2018 and succeeds Professor The Lord Alton of Liverpool, whose three year term as Vice-Delegate for England came to a close in April. Lord Alton will now serve as a member of the Delegation Council for the period 2015-2018.

The Delegate Anthony Bailey stated “I would like to thank outgoing Vice-Delegate Lord Alton for his support of our Delegation in Great Britain and Ireland. David has played an important role in overseeing the considerable development of our delegation, both in terms of its increased membership as well as its international religious and charitable endeavour through new charitable projects in Europe and across the world.

“I would at the same time like to warmly welcome Baroness Scotland to the Council as the new Vice Delegate for England. Patricia is known to many of us though our events where she has been guest speaker and at our delegation masses. Since 2012, she has been a prominent advocate of the Delegation’s considerable engagements in the Caribbean region being herself of Dominican-Antiguan parentage.”
