c96London – April 2005. The Delegate for Great Britain and Ireland, HE Mr Anthony Bailey, attended a moving tribute service for the late Pope John Paul II at the West London Synagogue for British Jews in central London. The tribute was lead by Senior Rabbi and Interfaith Chairman of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, Rabbi Mark Winer and was the first time a Roman Pontiff has been honoured in such a way in a Synagogue in Britain.

Among those present and who spoke at the tribute were Sir Sigmund Sternberg, Co-Founder of the Three Faith Forum and Delegation member, Rabbi Tony Bayfield, Chief Executive of the Reform Synagogues of Great Britain, Councillor Michael Brahams, Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster, Shaikh Dr Zaki Badawi, Principal of The Muslim College, Mr Leo Simmonds, Secretary of the Papal Knights Association, Mr Jehangir Sarosh, Moderator of the World Conference on Religion and Peace-Europe, The Rev Tim Selwood representing the Church of England, Monsignor Joseph Marino, 1st Secretary at the Apostolic Nunciature to Great Britain, and Constantinian Order Chaplain, the Rev Fr Michael Seed who is also Secretary for Ecumenism for the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster.
