Vatican City – June 2004. The Grand Prior, Cardinal Pompedda has retired from his post as Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Segnatura following the submission of his letter of resignation to Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his 75 th birthday, in accordance with canon law.
Cardinal Pompedda has been asked to remain as President of the Court of Cassation of the Vatican City State and will remain as Grand Prior by appointment of HRH The Grand Master and Ecclesiastical Counsellor to the Constantinian Order by appointment of the Holy Father.
