Constantinian Chaplain the Rt Rev Ralph Heskett, Bishop of Gibraltar, has been appointed the third Bishop of Hallam. Bishop Heskett was decreed in 2013 as an Ecclesiastical Knight Commander of Grace. The Chancery extends its warmest congratulations and prayerful good wishes following the Holy Father’s appointment.

Born in Sunderland in March 1953, Bishop Heskett was ordained to the Priesthood on 10 July 1976. Between 1987 – 1990 he was Superior of the Redemptorist Community of Kinnoull, Perth, Scotland and Director of Missions. Bishop Heskett served the Archdioceses of Liverpool and Southwark, first as Superior of the Redemptorist Community, and the Parish of Our Lady of the Annunciation, Bishop Eton, Liverpool. In 1999 he was appointed Parish Priest of St Mary’s Clapham in South London where he remained until 2008. He then returned to Bishop Eton, Liverpool, to supervise the formation of Postulants, to preach Parish Missions and to give Parish Retreats. On 10 July 2010 he was ordained the seventh Bishop of Gibraltar, one hundred years after the first.
