London, 30 January 2013. The Rt Hon Ann Widdecombe was invested at Speaker’s House at the House of Commons by His Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor with the insignia of a Dame of the Order of St Gregory. A Mass was held prior to the investiture at the Chapel of Our Lady Undercroft.
Lord Alton of Liverpool and Mr David Amess, MP hosted the event. Among those attending were former British Prime Minister Sir John Major, KG, and Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans MP. The Constantinian Order was represented by numerous knights and dames including the Delegate for Great Britain and Ireland, Mr Anthony Bailey, Baroness Scotland and Paul Murphy MP.
