London, 21 August 2017. His Eminence Cormac, Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor, Prior of the Delegation of Great Britain & Ireland of the Constantinian Order has been taken seriously ill in hospital.

His Eminence has been a longstanding supporter of the Order and its spiritual head in our countries having first been invested into the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George in 2002 as a Bailiff Knight Grand Cross of Justice.

In 2013 Cardinal Cormac was appointed by the Grand Master, HRH The Duke of Castro, to the rank and dignity of Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Francis I in recognition of his many years of service as Prior of the British and Irish Delegation.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster has sent a letter to all bishops calling for prayers for his processor. “These loving prayers are a source of great strength and comfort as he calmly ponders on all that lies ahead, all in God’s good time. May the Lord strengthen him in faith and trust and may the prayers of the Church, which he loves so much, comfort and uphold him.” Cardinal Nichols wrote.

The Delegate for Great Britain and Ireland, Anthony Bailey, has asked all members and supporters to keep Cardinal Cormac in their thoughts and daily prayers.
