understarsLondon, October 2012. The Delegation of Great Britain & Ireland is pleased to inform its knights, dames and friends that tickets for the annual ‘A Night Under The Stars’ concert in aid of the Order’s Delegation’s adopted charity, The Passage, have now gone on sale.

The concert will be held on Thursday 8 November 2012, at the Royal Festival Hall in central London. Now in its twelfth year, the concert’s mix of popular classical music, star soloists and celebrity presenters has attracted sell-out audiences. The concert’s presenters have included Sir Roger Moore, Rory Bremner, Patricia Hodge, Stephen Fry, Steve Coogan and Griff Rhys Jones.

Reflecting a mood of national pride as the year of the London Olympics, Paralympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee draws to a close, this year’s concert will be themed ‘Crown and Country’ and be an evening featuring many British classical favourites. From stirring music capturing the very essence of great state occasions to lyrical evocations of rural England, the concert will feature some of Britain’s most loved pieces. The programme includes two of the country’s favourite works, which regularly appear at the top of the Classic FM Hall of Fame: Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending and Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Both pieces will be performed by soloists whose affinities with these works is second-to-none: violinist Tasmin Little and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. HRH Prince Michael of Kent will also attend. Tickets range from £12 to £60 and are available from The Passage on 020 7592 1856. Please mention you are a member or friend of the Constantinian Order when calling.

Since 1980, The Passage’s work has grown steadily and now The Passage Day Centre helps more than 3,000 people each year. In 1990, at the request of the late Cardinal Hume, The Passage opened a temporary night shelter for the cold winter months. This project never closed and grew into our permanent hostel, Passage House, which provides short-term refuge for 40 people. The Passage’s work is difficult and complex, but its Mission is simple: To provide resources which encourage, inspire and challenge homeless people to transform their lives. (www.passage.org.uk)

The Constantinian Order in Britain and Ireland has supported the work of the Passage for over 10 years and donated tens of thousands of pounds during that time. Ahead of the concert a further donation of £1,000 has been made this month to the work of The Passage thanks to the generosity of some knights and dames.
