Royal and Military Anthems and Marches.

Some 30 years ago, a group of prominent knights of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order decided to record for prosperity some of the most memorable and inspiring pieces of royal and military music ever written during the existence of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Through this celebration of anthems and marches, the knights desired above all else to bring to life once again the pomp and majesty of their former kingdom and offer the listener an insight into the achievements of some of its most prominent Court musicians.

One of the most emotional pieces of music included on this disc, is the Inno de Re (The King's Hymn) which was composed in 1787 by Giovanni Paisiello, a distinguished musician and Maestro di Camera di Cappella. Commissioned by Ferdinando IV, King of Naples and Sicily (1751-1825), this piece of music, above all others, symbolised the country's nationhood, strength and power and hence its adoption as the National Anthem of the Kingdom.

This compact disc, produced in 2003 is available from the Chancery at UK£12.00 or €17.00 including postage and packing. For international postage please add UK£5 (€7.50). REDUCED PRICE!

A Royal Charity Concert of 18th Century Sacred Music from Naples

This is a compact disc recording of the Constantinian Order's concert which was held in Monaco in October 2001 to raise funds for St Vincent's Hospital - the closest trauma centre to the World Trade Center.

Following the terrorist atrocities across the United States of America on 11th September 2001, the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George once again rose to its ancient calling of hospitaller and humanitarian work and organised the concert of 18th century Neapolitan sacred music. This unique event was held in the Cathedral of Monaco in the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III, Sovereign Prince of the Principality of Monaco and HRH The Duke of Castro, Grand Master of the Constantinian Order.

This moving tribute by the Conseratoire de musique San Pietro a Majella de Naples, captures so well the moment when the world stood still. Its various pieces of sacred music and song are truly spiritually inspiring and thought provoking.

This compact disc, produced in 2002, is available from the Chancery at UK£12.00 or €17.00 including postage and packing. For international postage please add UK£5 (€7.50). REDUCED PRICE!

"A King from Canada"

The Chancery of the British and Irish Delegation is pleased to announce the publication of the autobiography written by our longstanding Council member, Sir Conrad Swan. The book illustrates the family life, carrier and work as a herald and ultimately Garter Principal King of Arms of Sir Conrad. A King from Canada outlines the important contributions made to the development of the expressions of sovereignty in various Commonwealth states by the former Garter Principal King of Arms and senior officer at the College of Arms.

The book discovers how during more than three decades as a herald Sir Conrad’s roles were considerable in the founding of the Orders of Knighthood of several Commonwealth countries, including the Orders of Canada and the Orders of Australia, as well as in the establishment of both the National Flag of Canada and of the Canadian Heraldic Authority L’Aurorité héraldique du Canada.

Sir Conrad Swan was the first herald for several centuries to accompany from England the Sovreign, when proceeding abroad and he recounts these times with fondness.

Contained within the book are intricate genealogical charts, as well as the now superseded, but historic, Introduction Ceremony into the House of Lords for a new Peer, illustrated with complete floor plan movements.

This publication is available from The Memoir Club, Stanhope Old Hall, Stanhope, County Durham DL13 2PF, Tel +44 (0) 1388 527215 at UK£22 including postage and packing. For international postage please add UK£2 for Europe or £5.75 for rest of the world.
