sir gavyn arthurLondon, August 2016. A Memorial Service for the late Sir Gavyn Arthur was held at The Temple Church, Temple, London EC4Y 7BB on Monday 17 October 2016 at 2.30pm.

Sir Gavyn served his city and country with great distinction as 675th Lord Mayor of London (2002-2003) and as a High Court Judge of England and Wales. He was elected Alderman for the Ward of Cripplegate in the City of London and held countless other positions with organisations and bodies throughout the City of London, the country and wider world. In 2004 he was knighted by Her Majesty The Queen for services to the City of London.

Sir Gavyn Arthur was first invested into the Order as a Knight Commander of the Royal Order of Francis I in 2006 and was promoted to the rank of Knight Grand Cross in 2011. He died on 16 May 2016.

The Memorial Service was attended by over 700 guests including members of the British and wider European Royal families, members from the diplomatic corps of Austria, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Kosovo and other European states. HI & RH Archduke Karl von Habsburg, HRH Princess Elena of Romania and HRH Princess Katarina of Serbia together with the Ambassadors of many other states including the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps attended the service.

The Delegate, Anthony Bailey, Council members, knights and dames of the Constantinian Order and the Royal Order of Francis I were present at the Memorial Service.

The Lord Mayor of the City of London and most past Lord Mayors were in attendance together with countless city and other organisations which Sir Gavyn was an active member of. The Company of Pikemen and Musketeers were also in attendance at the service.

Tribute was paid by Alderman Nicholas Anstee, former Lord Mayor (2009-2010). A reading by Mr Peter Tompkins, Master of the Worshipful Copany of Wax Chandlers, was read, followed by a prayer by Deputy Ms Joyce Nash OBE, and Mr Alexander Dixon.
