Paul MurphyCardiff – March 2013. The Chancery is pleased to announce the appointment The Rt Hon Paul Murphy KSG MP as Vice-Delegate of Wales of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George within the Delegation of Great Britain and Ireland.

Mr Murphy, who was first invested into the Constantinian Order in November 2003 will serve in the Vice Delegate’s post for the period 2013-2016.

Mr Murphy who is a committed Roman Catholic who has served as Member of Parliament for Torfaen since 1987. He has served twice as Secretary of State for Wales between July 1999 and October 2002 and again from 2008 to 2009. Paul also served as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland from October 2002 until May 2005 and was appointed to the Privy Council in 1999. Between 2005-2008 Paul served as Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee within the British Parliament.

Paul Murphy was appointed by Pope John Paul II as a Knight of the Pontifical Order of St Gregory the Great.
