His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II Karim, Patriarch of Antioch and Middle East and Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church will visit Britain and consecrate the new St Thomas Cathedral in west London on Thursday 24 November 2016, at 1:45pm.

The Syriac Orthodox Church is an autocephalous Oriental Orthodox church based in the Eastern Mediterranean, with members spread throughout the world. Due to the war in Syria, the community of Syriac Orthodox Christians in Britain has grown considerably. The Church employs the oldest surviving liturgy in Christianity, the Liturgy of St. James the Apostle, and uses Syriac, a dialect of Aramaic spoken by Jesus Christ and his Apostles, as its official and liturgical language.
