London, July 2006. The British and Irish Delegation extends its congratulations to Sir Sigmund Sternberg, a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Francis I, on receiving from HE President Horst Kohler of Germany the Knight Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The award was made is recognition of his outstanding role in promoting tolerance and inter-faith dialogue on an international level as well as his significant contribution to Anglo-German relations. The award ceremony took place at the German Ambassador’s Residence in central London.
