On behalf of the British & Irish Delegation, the Delegate HE Anthony Bailey extends his warmest congratulations to the Rt Hon Paul Murphy, Vice-Delegate of Wales, following the announcement on 27 August 2015 that HM The Queen has granted an Peerage to him in the Dissolution Honours List.

Mr Murphy’s elevation to the House of Lords follows his decision to stand down at the 2015 General Election after being an MP since 1987. He served in a number of senior government posts including as Secretary of State for Wales twice from 1999 to 2000 and from 2008 to 2009 and also as a Minister and then Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.

Paul Murphy was invested into the Constantinian Order in 2003 as a Knight Commander of Merit with Star and was appointed by Pope John Paul II as a Knight of the Pontifical Order of St Gregory the Great.
