London – January 2012. The Grand Master of the Royal Order of Francis I, HRH The Duke of Castro, decreed in October 2011 the admittance of Mr Vivian Wineman to the honour and dignity of Knight First Class of the Royal Order of Francis I.

A presentation ceremony took take place at the London home of longstanding delegation member, Sir Sigmund Sternberg, during which Mr Wineman was invested with his insignia and received his diploma as a Knight First Class of the Royal Order of Francis I. The ceremony was conducted by the Delegate for Great Britain and Ireland, Mr Anthony Bailey.

This award was granted to Mr Wineman in recognition of his contribution to furthering inter-religious relations in the United Kingdom. Vivian Wineman is the President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. He is also Chairman of the Membership Council of the Jewish Leadership Council, Vice President of European Jewish Congress and Chair of its sub-committees dealing with anti-Semitism and Jewish demography. He is Vice Chair of the UK Inter Faith Network and a consultant to the Three Faiths Forum and was joint Chair of the British Friends of Peace Now.

Among Delegation members attending were: Lady Sternberg, Dr Colin Smythe, Mr Michael Sternberg, QC, Mr Timothy George, HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia, Mr Andrew Rogers, Mr Joseph Gaggero, Mrs Teodora Chamberlain and Mr Kevin Grant.
